A bit about Ben

I was born in Zimbabwe, to South African parents, but grew up in Cape Town. I did medical school at UCT, obtaining my MBChB in 1999. I did my internship at New Somerset Hospital, before Taryn and I moved to Empangeni for our junior doctor years in the deep end.

At Zithulele Hospital I was the Clinical Manager, and sometimes Acting CEO, responsible for the development of clinical services alongside an amazing group of people.

I have a Master's Degree (MSc) in International Primary Care from the University of London, as well as post-graduate CMSA diplomas in obstetrics, anaesthetics and HIV management.

When our Zithulele chapter ended in 2022, I fulfilled the role of Clinical Medicolegal Advisor within the Eastern Cape Department of Health - advising the HOD on the clinical merits of litigation brought against the Department.

I joined Taryn in practice from February 2025, and continue with medicolegal consulting work on the side.

We are so excited to be a team, working together again.
